The French based automaker Renault and its Dacia sub-brand are planning to offer the new Lodgy model at a starting price of maximum 10.000 EUR, which is way less than other similar models like the Renault Scenic, Citroen C4 Picasso or Peugeot 5008.
According to the French journalists at Auto Plus, the Romanian based automaker Dacia and its mother brand Renault will set a starting price for the new Lodgy below the 10.000 EUR mark. Auto Plus is also saying that the first Dacia Lodgy models which will enter production are already on the assembly line at Renault’s Tanger plant in Morocco and, if everything will go as planned, the production will start in December.
Besides the Dacia Lodgy MPV, Renault and Dacia will also develop a new utility vehicle on the same platform and both vehicles are a challenge for the French based automaker: new cars in a new plant. Renault has invested 1bn euros into the Tanger, Morocco plant in order to make it the most competitive facility within the group. Renault is planning to make cheaper cars in Morocco than it does in Romania or Turkey and the employee’s wages won’t go above 240 euros per month.
The production version of the Dacia Lodgy is rumored to come with the same engines as the Duster SUV, the 1.5 liter dCi with 90 and 110 horsepower and the 1.6 liter petrol unit generating 110 horsepower.
