Exclusive: Fiat 500 MPV (Ellezero) spied in Italy

The Fiat 500 MPV which will be named as the Ellezero has been recently spied in Livigno, Italy.

After some rumors appeared which were saying that the Fiat 500 MPV will be named the Ellezero and it’s expected to go on sale in the United States in mid-2012, the model has been spied by the inautonews.com team in Livigno, Italy, where it was parked in a ski resort. The Fiat Ellezero is way beyond a simple rumor and even if the model isn’t quite attractive, it’s the company’s attempt to go against its future rivals.

The Fiat Ellezero is expected to be manufactured in Serbia and it will come for the B-segment, being offered in both five- and seven-passenger variants. The Fiat SUSW platform (Small U.S. Wide), which is the basis of the small model, will also underpin a new Jeep crossover. The SUV will be developed in the US, along with overseas replacements for the Punto and Palio.

The upcoming Fiat Ellezero will battle the Ford B-Max and the Opel Meriva in Europe and it is also expected that the model will share the same engine with the Fiat 500. The Ellezero will be made at a Fiat Serbian plant and the vehicle will be officially presented to the public at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show, ahead of its US launch in mid-2012.
