The German based automaker has recently introduced the new A3 1.6 TDI Ultra, during the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show, in a premiere.
Audi has produced an enhanced version of the R18 Le Mans for the 2012 motorsport season, named the R18 Ultra, which was focused on lightweight construction, so when we saw the Ultra name making its way onto a production vehicle, we hoped that this will truly be impressive. But if you were hoping that the Audi A3 1.6 TDI Ultra will be extremely light, with a stripped out interior, a roll cage, at least 250 HP from the 1.6 TDI engine and a body kit, you’re going to be very disappointed.
The new Audi A3 1.6 TDI Ultra has some improved aerodynamics and some of the S line exterior trim. The ride height has been lowered by 15 mm compared to the standard A3, by using the low rolling resistant tires. As for the 1.6 liter TDI diesel engine, you should know that this is producing a total output of 110 HP. The unit is returning 73.5 mpg, on the European cycle, and it’s allowing the model to reach a claimed range of 932 miles, on a full tank. The Audi A3 1.6 TDI Ultra will be launched in Europe in September and in the United States in early 2014.
