Google is testing “Google Cars” image

After hotel, flights, financial services, products …, Google is testing Google Cars – the same platform like the one they use for Google Advisor, but this time Google will display new cars.

The program is in “beta” mode and is available only for the San Francisco area.

“Our service helps you compare vehicles at a glance from participating dealers and contact them for more information. To help you avoid unwanted sales calls, we limit the user information that is shared with dealers.”

To see Google Cars, you’ll need to change your ZIP code to 94301, and do a Google search for “Palo Alto Toyota”.

The search engine will show you images of vehicles, prices and a link to the dedicated Auto Advisor site.

It also has a “Sponsored” icon, which lets users know that some of the auto dealers have paid Google for listings. It appears the automotive dealerships are providing a feed of their inventory that includes specific vehicles, including their vehicle identification numbers (VIN).

Users can select trim levels, engine type, transmission, exterior / interior color and even different packages.
