The 2016 Audi A4 will be offered for sale starting this summer and this probably means that we will see it at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show, in March.
A new report is indicating that the fifth generation of the Audi A4 will be offered for sale in mid-2015. The model in question is currently in development and it is believed to be truly revolutionary as it will be based on the second generation of the MLB platform. The size of the car will remain pretty much the same to the one of the current model but the width will increase in order to house the new chassis and wider tracks and also its wheelbase will be longer than 2,810 mm of the current one, translated into increased rear legroom.
The boot capacity is expected to remain at 480 liters and its interior design will be heavily updated, getting a minimalistic look. The MMI infotainment system will be controllable through a touchpad similar to the one of the new Audi TT and a head-up display will also be offered. The engine lineup will include the 1.4 liter TFSI, the 1.8 liter TFSI and the 2.0 liter TFSI, with cylinder deactivation technology, being joined by two diesel burners, the 1.6 liter and the 2.0 liter. The 3.0 liter TFSI and 3.0 liter TDI are also expected to be introduced, along with a plug-in hybrid model, using the same powertrain as the A3 e-tron. Transmissions will include the 6-speed manual and the 9-speed automatic. The Avant is expected to be introduced later on and the successor of the A5 Coupe, Cabrio and Sportback will be seen sometimes in 2016.
