Nissan has introduced the 2012 GT-R VVIP Edition to showrooms in the United Arab Emirates and other Gulf Cooperation Council countries, offering a blend of high performance and bespoke luxury aimed squarely at the region’s most demanding buyers.

The VVIP Edition is Nissan’s most exclusive GT-R for the Middle East, mirroring the European Egoist specification but badged specifically for the GCC market. It builds on the updated 2011-2012 GT-R platform, which received both mechanical and interior improvements over its predecessor. The centrepiece is the revised 3.8-litre twin-turbo V6, now producing 530hp, paired with a dual-clutch transmission and all-wheel drive. This engine upgrade brought sharper acceleration, with Nissan claiming a 0-100km/h time under three seconds for the standard car.

Where the VVIP Edition stands apart is in its approach to luxury and personalisation. Buyers can select from a wide palette of high-quality leathers and trims, with the interior tailored to individual taste. The specification is designed to appeal to the region’s appetite for exclusivity and craftsmanship, positioning the VVIP Edition as a rival to bespoke offerings from European marques.

Personalisation and performance

Nissan’s VVIP Edition is not just a badge exercise. The interior can be finished in a range of colours and materials, with customer input central to the process. This level of customisation is rare for a Japanese performance car and reflects Nissan’s intent to compete with established luxury brands in the region. The car retains all the technical improvements of the 2012 GT-R, including the stiffer chassis, revised suspension and updated electronics.

The VVIP Edition joins other versions of the 2012 GT-R, such as the Egoist in Europe, but is tailored for Middle Eastern markets. It is available at select Nissan dealers in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Saudi Arabia and Qatar, with the potential for further expansion depending on demand. Pricing details were not disclosed at launch, but the VVIP Edition sits at the top of the GT-R range in both equipment and exclusivity.

Position in the market

By launching the VVIP Edition, Nissan is targeting buyers in the Gulf who expect high performance without sacrificing luxury or the option to personalise. The move also reflects the growing demand in the region for limited-edition and bespoke vehicles from global manufacturers. The GT-R’s reputation for performance is well established, but the VVIP Edition is aimed at those who want their car to stand out in both specification and finish.
