BBC2 Teases Final Unaired Top Gear Episodes After Clarkson Suspension

Two new trailers preview the last episodes of Top Gear Series 22, featuring hot hatches, classic convertibles and guest stars Gary Lineker and Henry Cavill.

By Editorial Desk Updated

BBC2 has released teaser videos for the remaining unaired episodes of Top Gear Series 22, following the suspension of Jeremy Clarkson and the show's abrupt halt in March 2015. The trailers preview two new episodes, which will mark the final appearances of Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May as a trio on the original format.

What the trailers reveal about the new episodes

The first of the unaired episodes, Series 22 Episode 8, will see the presenters test the Subaru WRX STI and Volkswagen Golf R. The show also features a countryside drive in classic convertibles, including the Peugeot 304 Cabriolet, MGB GT and Fiat 124 Spider. Gary Lineker, the former England footballer and current broadcaster, is billed as the Star in a Reasonably Priced Car.

Series 22 Episode 9 will focus on a challenge involving second-hand SUVs, with each presenter sourcing a cheap used example to see who found the best deal. Clarkson is also seen driving luxury limousines in the trailer. Henry Cavill, known for his role as Superman, will appear as the guest star.

No confirmed air dates yet

As of mid-July 2015, BBC2 had not announced specific broadcast dates for the two remaining episodes. The teasers suggest they will air within weeks, but viewers awaiting the final outings of the original presenting team have no firm schedule. The episodes are expected to draw strong interest given the controversy and the uncertainty surrounding Top Gear's future direction at the time.
