There are people obsessed with video games and there are artists obsessed with video games – and fortunately the latter category sometimes delivers quite the fan masterpieces.
French film maker Alexandre Synger is for sure in the second roster, unhealthy so he recreated the well known Gran Turismo in real life by delivering the gameplay with RC cars. And Synger showd he knows what he’s doing – because he didn’t just jump in for a race. No, he worked on the opening beauty shots, the menu screens, and the car selection process, all with fanatical accuracy. If you’re not looking careful or you’re just a casual user you might think this is the real deal.
The race has some great, iconic cars from the game: Castrol Toyota Supra, Suzuki Escudo Pikes Peak, Dodge Viper GTS-R, Ford GT, and Nissan GT-R. And when the race is on, we have everything – probably even better than what some Hollywood flicks are able to provide: close battles, plenty of overtaking, crashes, dirty tricks, and a last second winner. By the way, this is not the first time Synger recreates chase scenes – he did it for the Fast and Furious series, and the Pod Racer sequence from Star Wars: The Phantom Menace.
