Acura Adds V6 Option and Upgrades Across 2010 TSX Range
Acura’s 2010 TSX introduces a 3.5-litre V6 alongside the existing four-cylinder, bringing more power, revised suspension and fresh features to the entry-premium saloon.
Acura’s TSX saloon entered the 2010 model year with a new 3.5-litre V6 engine option, marking a step up in performance and features for the brand’s entry-premium contender. The V6 delivers 280hp and 254lb ft of torque, broadening the TSX’s appeal for buyers seeking more power than the established 2.4-litre four-cylinder could offer.
The new V6 model sits above the existing 2.4-litre four, which continues with a choice of six-speed manual or five-speed automatic transmissions. The V6 is paired with a Sequential SportShift five-speed automatic, featuring steering wheel paddle shifters and V6-specific gear ratios. Acura also fitted the V6 cars with a performance exhaust, revised front fascia for improved cooling, and exclusive 18-inch alloy wheels shod with Michelin Pilot P235/45R18 tyres.
To handle the extra power, the V6 TSX gains specific suspension tuning, including stiffer front springs and recalibrated dampers, as well as an upgraded braking system. An expanded Electronic Control Mount system is used to manage noise, vibration and harshness, while Active Sound Control helps keep the cabin quiet during cruising.
Interior and technology updates
Inside, the TSX continues its focus on driver-oriented design with a leather-wrapped steering wheel, power-adjustable heated front seats, and dual-zone climate control. A Multi-Information Display and dash-mounted electronic compass are standard, while the Technology Package brings an upgraded navigation system with voice recognition, Zagat restaurant information, real-time traffic and weather (where available), and a 10-speaker Acura/ELS premium sound system with DVD-Audio and XM radio.

Both the four-cylinder and V6 models offer seating for five, with perforated leather upholstery and memory settings for the driver’s seat. The TSX’s infotainment suite includes a 7-speaker system as standard, with the Technology Package upgrading to a 10-speaker ELS setup. GPS-linked solar-sensing climate control is also available for added comfort.
Safety and market positioning
The 2010 TSX achieved top marks in crash testing, earning five stars from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and a Top Safety Pick from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. Electronic stability control is standard, supporting Acura’s safety credentials in the segment.
With the introduction of the V6, Acura positioned the TSX to compete more directly with performance-oriented rivals such as the Audi A4 3.2, BMW 335i and Lexus IS 350, while the four-cylinder model continues to target the likes of the Audi A4 2.0T, BMW 328i, Lexus IS 250 and Mercedes-Benz C300. The broadened range gives dealers a stronger hand in the entry-premium saloon market, appealing to buyers prioritising both efficiency and performance.
