Lexus has officially introduced the 2015 LS, focusing on technology and convenience updates rather than a full redesign. The new model year brings an upgraded infotainment system and enhanced smartphone integration, while the established V8 and hybrid powertrains continue unchanged.

2015 Lexus LS: Official Introduction and Updates

Infotainment and Connectivity Upgrades

For 2015, the LS gains a revised infotainment system offering features such as estimated time of arrival calculation, detour preview, and predictive traffic information. The system is designed to provide more accurate navigation and travel planning for drivers, making journeys more convenient and informed. These updates reflect the increasing demand for advanced connectivity and real-time data in the luxury car segment.

Lexus has also introduced a new Remote app, enabling owners to start or stop the engine, lock or unlock doors, and adjust the climate control remotely via their smartphone. This addition brings the LS in line with rivals offering connected car features, giving owners more flexibility and control over their vehicle even when they are not inside it. Such features are becoming increasingly common in the luxury market, as manufacturers respond to consumer expectations for seamless integration between vehicles and mobile devices.

Other interior changes for 2015 include a new LED dome light, which improves cabin illumination, and an improved rearview camera that now features dynamic gridlines for easier parking and manoeuvring. These updates, though subtle, contribute to a more user-friendly and comfortable driving experience.

Minor Visual and Equipment Tweaks

The F Sport variant of the LS receives a new badge at the rear, distinguishing it from other trims. However, visual updates across the range remain minimal, with the exterior design and interior layout largely unchanged from the previous year. Lexus has made only minor adjustments to standard and optional equipment, focusing instead on technology and functionality improvements. The LS continues to present a refined and understated look, appealing to buyers who value classic luxury over dramatic styling changes.

Beyond the technology changes, Lexus has not announced any significant updates to the chassis, suspension, or safety features for 2015. The updated rearview camera is the primary new safety-related feature. The LS remains positioned as the brand’s flagship saloon, offering a blend of refinement, technology, and traditional V8 power. Its reputation for reliability and comfort continues to be a key selling point, especially for buyers seeking a dependable luxury vehicle with advanced features.

Powertrains: Proven V8 and Hybrid Options

Lexus has carried over the engine lineup from the previous year. The standard LS 460 is powered by a 4.6-litre V8 producing 386hp and 498Nm of torque. For buyers seeking a hybrid, the LS 600h combines a 5.0-litre V8 with electric assistance, delivering a total output of 438hp. Both variants are paired with automatic transmissions and offer the choice of rear- or all-wheel drive, depending on market and specification. This approach allows Lexus to maintain the proven performance and reliability that the LS is known for, while still offering a hybrid option for those prioritising efficiency.

No changes have been made to the chassis or suspension for 2015. The LS continues to deliver a comfortable and composed ride, which has been a hallmark of the model throughout its history. While some competitors have introduced more radical updates or new powertrains, Lexus has opted for continuity, banking on the strength of its existing engineering and customer satisfaction.

Position in the Luxury Saloon Segment

The 2015 Lexus LS remains a strong contender in the full-size luxury saloon segment, competing with models such as the Mercedes-Benz S-Class and BMW 7 Series. While the LS may not offer the most dramatic styling or the latest in autonomous driving technology, it appeals to buyers who value reliability, comfort, and a well-appointed cabin. The incremental updates for 2015 are designed to keep the LS competitive in a segment where technological innovation and customer expectations are constantly evolving.

For those interested in other Lexus models updated for 2015, the brand also introduced changes to the NX crossover, among others, as part of its ongoing efforts to refresh its lineup and meet the needs of luxury car buyers.
