Subaru Impreza returns to UK showrooms from £17,495
The new-generation Subaru Impreza goes on sale in the UK with a 1.6-litre boxer engine, standard safety technology and a single RC trim level.
Subaru has reintroduced the Impreza to the UK market, offering the new-generation C-segment hatchback in a single RC trim from £17,495 on the road. The car went on sale from 1 May, targeting buyers seeking a practical family hatch with a reputation for reliability and all-weather capability.
Standard equipment and safety features
The UK Impreza is sold exclusively in RC specification, which brings a long list of standard features. These include electronic stability control, Subaru’s Vehicle Dynamics Control with brake assist, and a brake override system that ensures braking takes priority if both pedals are pressed together. Daytime running lights, automatic headlights, front fog lamps and a windscreen wiper de-icer system are also fitted as standard.
Comfort and convenience are addressed with power folding heated mirrors (with integrated LED indicators), rain-sensing wipers, dual-zone air conditioning, heated front seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and gear knob, two 12V power outlets, USB and AUX connectivity, and a rear-view camera. The car rides on 16-inch alloy wheels and comes with a tyre repair kit in place of a spare wheel.

Engine and transmission
Power comes from a 1.6-litre DOHC boxer petrol engine producing 114hp and 150Nm of torque at 4,000rpm. Buyers can choose between a five-speed manual or a CVT automatic gearbox. Subaru’s signature all-wheel drive system is not mentioned for the UK RC trim, marking a departure from the rally-bred image of previous Imprezas, which often featured more powerful turbocharged engines and standard AWD.
Position in the market
At launch, the Impreza is priced to compete with mainstream C-segment hatchbacks, but stands out for its standard equipment and Subaru’s reputation for durability. The 1.6-litre engine puts it at the lower end of the performance spectrum compared to rivals, but the generous safety and comfort kit is intended to appeal to buyers who value reliability and peace of mind over outright speed.
The Impreza’s return follows a period of absence from the UK market.
