Nissan launches updated 2011 GT-R with more power and new editions
Nissan’s 2011 GT-R arrives in Japanese showrooms with 530PS, improved handling, and expanded model range, including the bespoke EGOIST and track-only Club Track editions.
Nissan’s 2011 GT-R goes on sale in Japan from 17 November 2010, bringing a substantial round of updates to the supercar’s performance, efficiency and model range. The revised GT-R delivers 530PS, up from the previous 485PS, with torque rising to 612Nm, and introduces two new variants: the customisable EGOIST and the circuit-focused Club Track edition.
Engine and performance upgrades
The 3.8-litre twin-turbocharged V6 receives a series of mechanical changes, including higher turbo boost, revised valve timing, and improved intake and exhaust flow. These modifications lift peak power to 530PS at 6,400rpm and torque to 612Nm between 3,200 and 6,000rpm. A new red engine cover marks out the 2011 model’s uprated performance.
Nissan claims improved fuel efficiency, with the GT-R now rated at 8.5km/L on Japan’s 10-15 test cycle. Emissions are also reduced, meeting SU-LEV standards thanks to a new catalyst and engine control module. A new SAVE mode adjusts torque delivery and shift points for better economy on longer journeys, while starting performance in R mode is sharpened for faster launches.
Chassis, suspension and braking changes
Chassis rigidity is increased with a new carbon-composite strut brace and additional support in the dashboard. Nissan has also tightened body panel tolerances and upgraded vibration testing for each car. Suspension revisions include new lever ratios for the springs, shocks and anti-roll bars, as well as a larger caster angle at the front for better cornering stability.
The rear suspension’s roll centre is lowered to improve grip, and new aluminium free-piston dampers are fitted for more consistent damping and a smoother ride. Braking is enhanced by larger 390mm rotors, designed to improve fade resistance and pedal feel during hard use.
Wheels, tyres and aerodynamics
Rays supplies new forged aluminium wheels, lighter and stiffer than before, with a five-layer Hyper Blue Black Chrome finish. The Dunlop SP SPORT MAXX GT 600 DSST CTT tyres feature a revised compound and structure for better grip and stability, particularly on rutted surfaces. Nissan has also made subtle aerodynamic tweaks to further stabilise the GT-R at speed, though the car’s distinctive profile remains unchanged.
Expanded model range: EGOIST and Club Track
The 2011 GT-R range now comprises six versions: Pure, Black, Premium, SpecV, Club Track and EGOIST. The EGOIST is a bespoke version, offering a wide range of personalisation options for interior trim and materials, aimed at customers seeking exclusivity. The Club Track edition is developed for circuit use only and is not road legal. Nissan is considering offering both the EGOIST and Club Track editions in Europe and the Middle East, but their availability outside Japan has not been finalised.

Global rollout and context
The updated GT-R will reach North America, Europe and other markets after February 2011.
