The new generation of the MINI Cooper, in its range topping JCW version, has been officially unveiled at the 2015 Detroit Motor Show.
The automotive event currently going on as we speak in Detroit has recently seen the debut of the brand new MINI Cooper John Cooper Works, or JCW for short. The model in question has received a new front fascia, with honeycomb grille inserts, with larger air intakes, a tailgate mounted spoiler, some aerodynamic side skirts, a center mounted dual exhaust system, LED headlights and it is now riding on 17-inch alloy wheels. Besides this, the interior design has been modified by the one of the standard Cooper and this is now getting the piano black trim, the stainless steel pedals, sport steering wheel, Dinamica / fabric sport seats, JCW sill plates and revised instrumentation.
The 2016 MINI Cooper John Cooper Works is also coming with an Electronic Differential Lock Control System, with high performance brakes, with a sport tuned suspension system and several other tweaks. The most important part of the model is found under its hood where the 2.0 liter TwinPower Turbo four-cylinder engine is resting. This is capable of producing no less than 228 HP (170 kW) and 320 Nm (236 lb-ft) of torque. From 0 to 60 mph (96 km/h), the hot hatch will need 5.9 seconds and it will go all the way up to 153 mph (246 km/h). Prices for the model will start from 30,600 USD, without the 850 USD destination charge.
