The Aston Martin DB9 was named Britain’s favourite supercar in a nationwide poll conducted by Manheim Auctions in April 2011. The survey, which canvassed UK drivers, saw the DB9 take the top spot ahead of the Audi R8 and Bugatti Veyron, confirming the Aston’s appeal as a home-grown icon.
Manheim’s poll highlighted the DB9’s reputation for combining speed, style and British glamour. With prices for a new DB9 starting from £122,445 at the time, the car remained out of reach for most, but its desirability among enthusiasts was undiminished. The DB9’s blend of V12 performance and understated design helped it edge out rivals with more extreme price tags or performance figures.
How the DB9 Compared to Its Rivals
The survey’s top ten included a mix of British, German, Italian and American supercars. The Audi R8 and Bugatti Veyron completed the podium, with the Lamborghini Gallardo and Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG rounding out the top five. Classic models such as the Ford Mustang (1960-69) and Ferrari Testarossa also made the list, reflecting a broad definition of ‘supercar’ among UK enthusiasts.
