The Volkswagen Group is planning to use the same platform for models like the upcoming Bentley SUV and the future generations Audi Q7, Porsche Cayenne and Volkswagen Touareg.
The announcement hasn’t been made official just yet but this has been rumored ever since Bentley has unveiled his EXP 9 F SUV Concept a year ago. The brand new Volkswagen MLB platform is currently being used on the new generation of the Audi Q7, which will roll off the assembly line sometimes next year, and this should help it lose approximately 350 kg (771 lbs) thanks to the use of aluminum.
The same platform will also be used on the next generations of the Volkswagen Touareg and Porsche Cayenne but more important, for the final production version of the luxurious Bentley SUV. The Bentley vehicle will make its way onto the market in 2016, in a final production version, and it won’t have anything in common with the EXP 9 F. This will get improved styling, a sleeker roofline and some other tweaks, which should make it the best choice when wanting to buy such a model. Additional details on the new Bentley SUV are limited for the moment.
