The Romanian based automaker Dacia is surprising us once again and after it has shown us only a week ago the 2012 Lodgy race car, patient which will take on the Trophee Andros 2011/2012 ice-racing series, where it will be driven by Alain Prost, the first image of the production version has hit the web.
Honestly we don’t exactly know what to think about this image and if many of the people working in the automotive media are saying that it’s for real, others are just ignoring it and considering it a modified Sandero in a pretty good Photoshop job. But real or fake, the new Dacia model is close to hitting the showrooms and it’s scheduled to be officially revealed at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show next March.
As you can see from the image above, the door handles look pretty much the same as they do on the Sandero model but the front fascia is actually a refresh for the Renault sub-brand. The new grille and lights are an upgrade to the Dacia “classic” design which hasn’t been revised in quite some time. The production version of the Dacia Lodgy is rumored to come with the same engines as the Duster, the 1.5 liter dCi with 90 and 110 horsepower and the 1.6 liter petrol unit with its 110 horsepower.
The new “Romanian” model is expected to come in both five and seven-seat versions and the manufacturer is planning to keep it 3.000 – 4.000 EUR below the competition, just like the previous models in its lineup, the Logan, Sandero or Duster. The entry-level version is rumored to cost just less than 13.000 EUR, while the top-of-the-line will be priced at over 18.000 EUR.
