Bugatti has just introduced at the 2013 IAA Frankfurt Motor Show the second special edition of the “Legend” series – and four more will follow.
Following the successful launch of its “Les Légendes de Bugatti” (Bugatti Legends) series a few weeks ago in Pebble Beach in California, Bugatti presents the Grand Sport Vitesse “Jean Bugatti” – a dedication to the oldest son of company founder Ettore Bugatti and his most famous creation, the Type 57SC Atlantic.
Like all other five models in the Legend series, the “Jean Bugatti” is limited to three vehicles. It costs 2.28 million euros (plus tax and other charges). It wears a jet black, clear-coated all carbon fiber exterior finish and rides on diamond-cut alloys. Platinum was used for the front grille’s surround, while Jean Bugatti’s signature was laser-cut onto the fuel and oil caps.
The Vitesse will also feature the same beige and brown tones that were present in the Type 57SC Atlantic. The seats, instrument panel, steering wheel, dash panel, centre console, door trim panels and windscreen crossmember are all rendered in chocolate brown.
Power comes from the familiar W16 8.0-liter quad-turbo engine outputting 1,200 HP (882 kW) and 1,500 Nm (1,106 lb-ft) of torque, enough to propel the supercar to 62 mph (100 km/h) in just 2.6 seconds.
