The German based automaker Mercedes-Benz is planning to expand its current vehicle lineup with the addition of a direct rival for the Audi TT.
Mercedes-Benz is trying to stay with its times and after introducing a revolutionary A-Class generation, which eventually gave birth to the new CLA four-door coupe and the GLA compact crossover, time has come for the car manufacturer to think about yet another vehicle, an Audi TT competitor. The announcement hasn’t been made official at this time but according to the guys from Auto Bild, the model in question will be a sporty coupe which should be based on the next generation of the A-Class. Our source is saying that if everything will go as planned, this should hit the assembly line sometimes in 2019.
The direct rival for the Audi TT signed by Mercedes-Benz will be first offered in a coupe body style and this will be followed by a roadster version, which will be competing against the Audi TT Convertible. The same platform will be used for the model in question as the one which will be adopted by the next A-Class generation and the engine lineup will be made, apparently, out of four-cylinder units only. Thanks to the use of the platform, the new Mercedes vehicle should be keeping its production costs low and it should become more affordable than its direct rival. More details on the model are limited at this time and will probably be announced close to its debut.
