MEC Design has launched a new tuning package for the W219-generation Mercedes-Benz CLS 500, placing strong emphasis on exterior transformation while delivering a handful of technical upgrades. The Berlin-based specialist's approach gives the four-door coupé a more assertive appearance, paired with subtle performance and comfort enhancements.

Exterior modifications define the package

The centrepiece is the MEC Design Bodykit 2Face. This includes a revised front bumper with integrated LED fog and daytime running lights, a rear bumper with a carbon fibre "Extreme" diffuser, side skirts featuring LED illumination, and both a three-piece bootlid spoiler and a rear window spoiler. The headlamp units receive a black background finish, while the car is wrapped in full matte black foil for a stealthy effect.

MEC Design fits its own 20-inch mecxtremeIII alloy wheels in a full matte black finish. These are 10.5 inches wide, with a 4.5-inch lip, and wear 285/25 ZR 20 tyres all round. The stance is further enhanced by an electronic lowering module, which allows the suspension height to be adjusted for a more aggressive look and a lower centre of gravity.

Interior and detail upgrades

The cabin receives a new carbon/leather steering wheel, blending sportiness with luxury, and bespoke floor mats bearing the MEC Design branding. The company also installs LED mirror covers styled for the 2010 model year, and a grille in the same vein, updating the car's appearance to match later Mercedes models. These touches modernise the W219's look without straying from the original design language.

  • MEC Design Bodykit 2Face: front and rear bumpers, side skirts, spoilers
  • 20-inch mecxtremeIII alloy wheels in matte black
  • Electronic suspension lowering module
  • 4-pipe stainless steel sport exhaust ('Apocalypse' sound)
  • Carbon/leather steering wheel and custom floor mats
  • 2010-style grille and LED mirror covers

Technical changes remain subtle

While the bulk of the work is cosmetic, the technical modifications are focused on the exhaust and suspension. The stainless steel system not only alters the sound but also reduces back pressure, though no official power increase is quoted. The adjustable lowering module permits owners to tailor the ride height, which can benefit handling as well as aesthetics.

MEC Design's kit is aimed at CLS 500 owners seeking a more individual and aggressive look, with the flexibility to tune the car's stance and exhaust note to personal taste. The approach is typical of German tuners working with established Mercedes platforms, offering visual drama without major mechanical overhaul.
