Next-gen Nissan GT-R will go hybrid, pack 784 HP image

The next generation of the Nissan GT-R will go through some drastic modifications and it will get, besides a revolutionary styling, a hybrid powertrain.

The Nissan GT-R has managed to set new benchmarks in the sports car segment and has soon gathered a lot of fans across the globe but since it has been in production since 2007, the model in question is getting ready to be replaced, by a new generation. The “Godzilla” will go through some severe modifications for the new generation and visually speaking, it will be inspired by the Vision Gran Turismo concept car, which will make it flashier than the already available model.

The new generation of the Nissan GT-R will be retaining its 3.8 liter twin turbo V6 engine, which will be upgraded and joined in by an electric motor. The hybrid sports car will probably become a hybrid supercar considering the fact that it is expected to produce no less than 650 HP, out of which 134 HP will be coming from the electric motor. The total output will stand at 784 HP which will bring it close to some of the hottest and most expensive vehicles in the hybrid supercar segment, the LaFerrari, the P1 and the 918 Spyder.

The next generation of the hybrid systems will be co-developed by Nissan and the Williams F1 team. A concept version of the new Nissan GT-R is believed to be introduced at the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show, but for the final production variant, we will have to wait for 2018, when it is believed to go official. More details on it remain unknown for the moment.
