Every model of Volkswagen will receive appearance of hybrid this is what the CEO of Volskwagen has said.
Though Volkswagen entered in the hybrid game a little late, but it has already set with some ambitious plans that say the company will produce hybrid variants of every model lie in their line-up.
In an interview, the Volkswagen CEO Martin Winterkorn has revealed its secrets stating that he does not believe EV technology is ready for the prime time as is ‘firmly convinced’ plug-in hybrids will be the only viable option for the next ten years.
Winterkorn has also focused on the record and said that the range-extended vehicles just like the Chevrolet Volt make a lot of sense. He also added that the company has developed a TT prototype that boasts a single-cylinder engine and thereby will help enhancing an electric powertrain.
Winterkorn is very optimistic about what is scheduled for future since he noted that the lithium-sulfur batteries possess three times the energy density of lithium-ion batteries.
In fact, the lithium-air batteries that are due in 2025 could possess four to five times the energy density. Well, at this phase we can say it an experimental round till the batteries show their power in future.
It’s a long way to go and many changes are set to see in the coming years. However, the executive has also indicated that the lithium-air technology might facilitate an EV to run up to 800 km (497 miles) and that too on a single charge which seems really remarkable.
