Volvo has pulled the wraps off the sportier R-Design version of the new-gen XC90, as the model in question will become available for order starting next month.
The brand new Volvo XC90 R-Design is coming with a more aggressive look than the regular version thanks to the new aerodynamic body kit added which includes the different front and rear bumpers, the different wheel arches, the silver roof rails, the matte silver side door mirrors, the twin exhaust setup and, of course, the large alloy wheels. The cabin of the vehicle has been equipped with features such as the sports seats, the steering wheels with perforated leather and paddle shifters and sports pedals.
“In principle, we have replaced the previous top level with the Inscription and R-Design versions. Both of them feature an elevated content, carefully chosen to emphasize each of their distinctive individual personalities”, said the Volvo Car Group senior VP of marketing, sales and customer service, Alain Visser.
The Volvo XC90 R-Design will be taking its power from a lineup of four-cylinder petrol and diesel burners, along with the top of the line T8 plug-in hybrid version, which packs a 2.0 liter turbocharged and supercharged four-cylinder unit powering the front wheels and an electric motor, with 80 HP (60 kW), for the rear axle. The total output produced stands at 400 HP (298 kW). The model will go on sale this October but deliveries will begin in May, next year. No pricing details have been announced yet.
