Lexus NX makes world debut at 2014 Beijing Motor Show
Lexus has unveiled its new NX compact SUV at the Beijing Motor Show, revealing full details of its petrol and hybrid powertrains and F Sport trim.
Lexus has taken the wraps off its new NX compact SUV at the 2014 Beijing Motor Show, marking the brand’s first entry into the premium mid-size crossover segment. The NX arrives with a choice of turbocharged petrol and hybrid drivetrains, a bold design and a technology-focused interior.
Aggressive exterior and F Sport option
Previewed by the LF-NX concept, the production NX stands out with its sharp styling, prominent spindle grille and sculpted LED lighting. Buyers can choose between 17- or 18-inch alloy wheels and opt for the F Sport package, which brings a mesh grille, unique bumpers, black door mirrors and exclusive alloys. The F Sport also adds sport seats, paddle shifters and revised cabin instrumentation.
Engine range and hybrid option
The NX 200t introduces Lexus’s first turbocharged petrol engine, a 2.0-litre four-cylinder producing 235hp and 349Nm of torque. The NX 300h pairs a 2.5-litre Atkinson-cycle petrol engine with an electric motor for a combined output of 194hp. Both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive configurations are available, depending on market. Lexus has not yet released official fuel economy or emissions figures for either model.
Interior features and technology
Inside, the NX features a three-spoke steering wheel, angular dashboard design and a mix of leather, wood and metallic trim. Lexus highlights the availability of a wireless charging tray for mobile devices, along with the brand’s latest infotainment system. The F Sport model gains additional touches such as sport seats and unique cabin details.
On sale later in 2014
Lexus plans to launch the NX in global markets starting in autumn 2014, with the United States among the first regions to receive the model. Pricing and full market specifications will be announced closer to launch.
