Holden refreshes Colorado and Colorado 7 for 2014 with new tech and safety upgrades
Holden’s 2014 Colorado pickup and Colorado 7 SUV receive updated diesel engines, expanded safety features and the MyLink infotainment system across more trim levels.
Holden has rolled out a series of updates for its 2014 Colorado pickup and Colorado 7 SUV, focusing on improved safety and in-car technology alongside a revised diesel engine. The changes apply to both the workhorse ute and the seven-seat SUV, with new features aimed at buyers looking for more equipment as standard.
Safety and driver assistance upgrades
For 2014, Holden has introduced Hill Start Assist, Trailer Sway Control and Descent Control across the Colorado and Colorado 7 range. These systems aim to improve stability and driver confidence, particularly when towing or driving off-road. Side impact airbags are now fitted as standard on LX, LT and LTZ models, extending this protection beyond the flagship variants. A rearview camera with Rear Park Assist is also available, making manoeuvring the large vehicles easier in tight spaces.
Infotainment and connectivity
The Holden MyLink infotainment system is now standard on all Colorado 7 variants and on the LX, LT and LTZ versions of the Colorado ute. MyLink brings a 7-inch touchscreen and supports apps including BringGo navigation, TuneIn, Pandora and Stitcher, with Bluetooth connectivity for calls and audio streaming. The move brings the Colorado’s tech offering closer in line with rivals and addresses previous criticism over limited in-cabin features.
Revised Duramax diesel engine
Both models are powered by Holden’s updated 2.8-litre Duramax 2 diesel engine, producing 147kW (200hp) and up to 500Nm of torque when paired with the automatic transmission. Buyers can choose between a six-speed manual or automatic gearbox. The engine’s torque figure puts the Colorado among the strongest in the segment for towing and load-carrying, although Holden had not confirmed official fuel economy or emissions figures at the time of announcement.
