Mercedes-Benz S-Class Pullman Rendered Ahead of 2014 Launch
Digital renderings based on recent spy shots preview the ultra-luxurious, extended-wheelbase S-Class Pullman, set to rival the Rolls-Royce Phantom.
Unofficial renderings of the 2014 Mercedes-Benz S-Class Pullman have surfaced, offering the clearest look yet at the upcoming flagship saloon. The digital images, created by independent designer Theophilus Chin, combine details from recent spy photographs with the latest S-Class design language.
The Pullman badge returns as Mercedes-Benz’s answer to the most exclusive chauffeur-driven cars. The renderings show a heavily elongated body, with longer rear doors and an extended C-pillar, suggesting a focus on rear-seat luxury. This approach is in line with Pullman tradition, which has historically denoted the brand’s most opulent, stretched limousines.
Based on the new S-Class platform, the Pullman is expected to be at least 6 to 12 inches longer than the long-wheelbase S-Class. This extra length is dedicated almost entirely to the rear compartment, where high-net-worth clients and heads of state spend their time. The additional space allows for features such as face-to-face seating, privacy partitions and bespoke trim options.
V12 Power and Ultra-Luxury Focus
Under the bonnet, the S-Class Pullman is rumoured to feature Mercedes’ 6.0-litre twin-turbocharged V12, producing around 600hp. This would position it directly against the likes of the Rolls-Royce Phantom and Bentley Mulsanne, both mainstays of the ultra-luxury saloon segment. A hybrid variant is also reportedly under consideration for launch after the V12 model reaches the market.
Mercedes-Benz aims to re-establish itself in the ultra-premium segment, an area it has not directly contested since the Maybach brand was phased out. The Pullman will serve as a new flagship, sitting above the S-Class and targeting buyers who might otherwise consider a bespoke Rolls-Royce or Bentley. Its extended wheelbase and focus on rear-seat comfort make it a natural choice for state and VIP transport.
