Mercedes-Benz has revealed the 2014 S65 AMG, confirming the arrival of the most powerful S-Class yet. The new model, set for its public debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November 2013, combines a twin-turbocharged V12 with a suite of high-end technology and comfort features.

The S65 AMG’s 6.0-litre engine develops 630hp (463kW) between 4,800 and 5,400rpm, with 1,000Nm of torque available from 2,300 to 4,300rpm. Power is sent to the rear wheels through AMG’s seven-speed 7G-TRONIC automatic gearbox. Mercedes-Benz quotes a 0-100km/h time of 4.3 seconds and an electronically limited top speed of 250km/h.

Despite its performance, the S65 AMG claims combined fuel consumption of 11.9L/100km and CO2 emissions of 279g/km, figures that reflect improvements over previous V12 AMG saloons. The engine meets EU6 emissions standards.
