2015 BMW X6 interior blends luxury with practicality
BMW’s second-generation X6, unveiled ahead of its Moscow debut, features an upgraded interior with new materials, advanced technology and increased comfort for five occupants.
BMW revealed the second-generation X6 ahead of its official debut at the 2014 Moscow Motor Show, placing particular emphasis on its redesigned interior. The 2015 X6 moves the model further upmarket, with a focus on improved comfort, materials and technology compared to its predecessor.
Cabin layout and materials
The 2015 X6 retains its five-seat configuration, with a rear bench designed to accommodate three adults. BMW focused on enhancing perceived quality, introducing new leather upholstery choices and fine wood or aluminium trim inserts. Soft-touch plastics cover major surfaces, and contrast stitching is used on the seats and dashboard to reinforce the model’s premium positioning within the BMW SUV line-up.
Front occupants benefit from redesigned sports seats with improved side support. The driver faces a new instrument cluster with sharper graphics, while the centre console is dominated by an updated iDrive controller and a larger, high-resolution display. Ambient lighting, available in multiple colours, extends along the doors and dashboard, adding to the cabin’s atmosphere in low light.
Practicality and rear space
Although the X6’s coupé-like roofline limits outright rear headroom compared to the X5, BMW claims improved legroom and easier access for rear passengers over the outgoing model. The split-folding rear seats allow the boot to expand for larger loads, making the X6 more practical for families or owners needing occasional extra cargo space.
Technology and equipment
BMW fitted the 2015 X6 with its latest iDrive infotainment system, which includes navigation, Bluetooth connectivity and smartphone integration. Higher trim levels offer options such as a Harman Kardon surround sound system and upgraded climate control. Safety and driver assistance systems, including a head-up display and surround-view cameras, are available depending on specification.
