Audi S4 Sedan and S4 Avant debut at 2015 Frankfurt show

Audi has introduced the new S4 Sedan and S4 Avant at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show, marking the world premiere of its latest performance saloon and estate. Both models feature a new 3.0-litre turbocharged V6 petrol engine producing 350hp and 500Nm of torque, paired with an eight-speed tiptronic automatic and Quattro all-wheel drive.

The S4 sits 23mm lower than the standard A4, with 18-inch alloy wheels as standard and 19-inch options available. The S4 Sedan weighs 1,630kg, while the Avant tips the scales at 1,675kg. Audi claims the new engine and chassis package delivers improved performance and efficiency over the outgoing S4.

Performance figures put the S4 Sedan at 0-100km/h in 4.7 seconds, with both body styles limited to 250km/h. Combined fuel consumption is rated at 7.4L/100km, with CO2 emissions at 170g/km. The Quattro system is standard, distributing power with a rear bias under normal conditions and shifting torque as needed for traction.

Interior and equipment

Inside, both S4 models feature S sport seats upholstered in pearl Nappa leather and Alcantara. The 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, first seen in the latest A4, is available as an option. Standard kit includes LED headlights, while matrix LED units and a head-up display can be specified. The S4 Avant adds a powered tailgate with sensor operation.
