Audi e-tron Quattro Concept previews electric SUV future at Frankfurt
Audi has unveiled the e-tron Quattro Concept at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show, signalling its intent to launch a premium electric SUV with over 500 km of range.
Audi introduced the e-tron Quattro Concept at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show, outlining the brand’s approach to a high-performance, all-electric SUV. The concept, positioned between the Q5 and Q7 in size, is built around a dedicated electric platform and points directly to a production model Audi aimed to launch in 2018.
The e-tron Quattro Concept uses three electric motors: one for the front axle and two for the rear. Audi quotes a standard combined output of 435 hp (320 kW), with a boost function temporarily raising this to 503 hp (370 kW) and more than 800 Nm of torque. The result is a claimed 0-100 km/h time of 4.6 seconds and a limited top speed of 210 km/h.
A large lithium-ion battery is integrated into the floor, providing a quoted range of more than 500 km on the NEDC cycle. Audi highlighted both AC/DC charging and wireless charging capability, though did not specify the battery’s exact capacity at the show. The concept also features active aerodynamics, with elements such as variable front and rear spoilers to reduce drag at speed.
Interior and design highlights
At 4.88 metres long, 1.93 metres wide and 1.54 metres high, the e-tron Quattro Concept sits lower than most SUVs, with a coupe-like roofline and short overhangs. The interior introduces a fully digital instrument cluster and two black-glass touchscreens framed in aluminium. Audi designed the cabin as a showcase for its future electric models, with a focus on minimalism and digital controls.

The e-tron Quattro Concept was one of several electric and hybrid SUVs at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show, as manufacturers responded to tightening emissions targets and growing demand for premium electric vehicles.
