Ford unveiled a refreshed EcoSport at Geneva in 2015, dropping the rear spare wheel and updating the cabin as part of a package aimed at European buyers.
Ford introduced an updated version of its EcoSport compact crossover at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show, aiming to better suit European tastes with a series of visual and functional changes. The most noticeable difference is the removal of the rear-mounted spare wheel, which gives the car a cleaner rear profile. A tyre mobility kit replaces the spare as standard, though buyers can still opt for the wheel if they wish.

Exterior Updates and Visual Tweaks
Ford’s display car at Geneva wore a Deep Impact Blue finish, complemented by a black roof and matching mirror caps. Additional exterior updates include a rear diffuser, privacy glass, and new 17-inch alloy wheels. These changes are intended to help the EcoSport stand out in a competitive segment, where style is a key consideration for buyers. The new look positions the EcoSport against rivals such as the Renault Captur and Peugeot 2008, both of which emphasise customisation and visual appeal.
Interior Improvements and Features
Inside, Ford has addressed previous criticisms regarding refinement and comfort. Thicker sound deadening materials have been added to the dashboard and doors, while tighter seals around the pedals aim to reduce noise, vibration and harshness. The handbrake has been repositioned for easier access, and partial leather seats are now available. A 4-inch colour display is fitted in the centre stack, providing updated infotainment functionality.
A new Winter Pack is offered, bringing heated seats, heated side mirrors, a heated windscreen, and rear seat air ducts to enhance comfort during colder months. These updates are designed to improve everyday usability and make the cabin more inviting for occupants.
Chassis and Technical Changes
The EcoSport’s ride height has been reduced by 10mm, a change aimed at improving handling for European roads. Alongside this, Ford has recalibrated the electronic stability control (ESC) and power steering systems to further refine the driving experience. These adjustments are intended to address feedback from customers and reviewers regarding the previous model’s dynamics.
Rear-view camera and satellite navigation are set to become available later in 2015, expanding the list of technology options for buyers. These features are increasingly expected in the compact crossover segment, and their addition should help the EcoSport remain competitive.
Engines and Emissions Compliance
All engines in the EcoSport range now meet Euro 6.1 emissions standards, ensuring compliance with the latest European regulations.
