2015 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG previewed in new renderings
Fresh renderings offer an early look at the 2015 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG, hinting at design changes and the expected twin-turbo V8 ahead of its Paris debut.
Unofficial renderings of the 2015 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG have surfaced, giving enthusiasts and industry watchers an early glimpse at the next-generation performance saloon ahead of its expected unveiling at the 2014 Paris Motor Show in October.
The renderings, which follow a series of spy photographs, depict a car that closely follows the latest C-Class design language but with AMG-specific cues. The front end shows a deeper bumper with larger air intakes, while subtle changes to the side skirts and rear hint at the car’s performance intent. The overall effect is more restrained than some previous AMG models, but the signature quad exhausts and wider stance remain clear indicators of its position at the top of the C-Class range.
Design changes and AMG cues
Compared to the standard C-Class, the rendered C63 AMG stands out with its more aggressive wheels and a lower ride height. While the visual updates are evolutionary, the details, such as the sculpted bonnet, pronounced rear diffuser and flared arches, signal the car’s performance credentials without resorting to excessive styling.
Engine and technical expectations
The 2015 C63 AMG is widely expected to move away from the outgoing 6.2-litre naturally aspirated V8, adopting a new 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8. This engine is understood to be based on the modular architecture that underpins the smaller 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder found in models such as the A45 AMG, CLA45 AMG and GLA45 AMG. Power output is rumoured to be around 480hp (358kW), though Mercedes-AMG has yet to confirm official figures.
Reports also point to a possible C63 AMG S variant, which would offer a more aggressive body kit, larger brakes and higher power output. This follows AMG’s recent strategy of introducing ‘S’ versions across its range, targeting buyers seeking maximum performance and exclusivity.
Market positioning and upcoming debut
Mercedes-Benz is expected to officially reveal the 2015 C63 AMG at the Paris Motor Show in October 2014. The new model will compete with the latest BMW M3 and Audi RS4, both of which have moved to turbocharged engines in recent years. Pricing and full technical details will be confirmed closer to launch.
