Opel Unveils 2015 Corsa Ahead of Paris Motor Show
Opel has revealed the 2015 Corsa, featuring new engines, updated styling inspired by the Adam, and a host of safety and technology upgrades ahead of its Paris debut.
Opel has officially taken the wraps off the 2015 Corsa, releasing full details and images ahead of the car’s first public appearance at the 2014 Paris Motor Show in October. The new Corsa arrives with a fresh design, an overhauled chassis, and a new range of engines, marking the fifth generation of Opel’s popular supermini.
Adam-inspired design and new interior
The 2015 Corsa adopts a front-end treatment influenced by the Opel Adam, with a wide grille, distinctive headlights, and a more sculpted bonnet. The side profile features pronounced shoulder lines and lower body blades, while at the rear, new taillights give a sharper look. The car will be available in both three- and five-door versions.
Inside, the Corsa receives a redesigned dashboard centred around the IntelliLink infotainment system, which includes a 7-inch touchscreen. Standard and optional features include metallic accents, a three-spoke steering wheel, gloss black trim, Bluetooth connectivity, Siri Eyes Free compatibility, and ambient lighting. Buyers can also specify heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and a panoramic sunroof.
Chassis, safety and technology upgrades
Opel has engineered a new chassis for the 2015 Corsa, with revised suspension components and a centre of gravity lowered by 5cm compared to the outgoing model. The company claims this improves handling and steering response. Safety and driver assistance systems have been expanded, with options such as Hill Start Assist, Side Blindspot Alert, Automatic Park Assist, Lane Departure Warning, and High Beam Assist. These additions are expected to help the Corsa achieve a strong Euro NCAP safety rating.
Engine range and technical highlights
The new Corsa introduces Opel’s 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, available in 90PS (66kW) and 115PS (84kW) outputs. Also offered is a 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol producing 100PS (73kW) and 200Nm of torque. The range is rounded out by 1.2- and 1.4-litre naturally aspirated petrol units and an improved 1.3-litre CDTi diesel. All engines are designed to meet the latest emissions standards and offer improved efficiency over the previous generation.
