Bentley took the covers off its EXP 12 Speed 6e concept at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show, presenting a fully electric two-seat convertible aimed at exploring the future of luxury EVs from Crewe. The concept’s unveiling signalled Bentley’s intention to push its design and technology further into the electric space, building on the coupe proportions of the earlier EXP 10 Speed 6 but reimagined as a drop-top.

The EXP 12 Speed 6e is not just a styling exercise. Bentley positioned it as a statement of intent for electrification, with the concept’s cabin and exterior both referencing the brand’s traditional cues while adopting new materials and interfaces. The interior features an OLED touchscreen integrated into the centre console, a digital instrument cluster with a 200-mph speedometer, and copper accents on the gear selector and controls, subtle nods to its electric powertrain. The concept imagery displayed a range of 257 miles (413 km), though Bentley did not confirm technical specifications such as battery capacity or motor output.

Design and Technology

The exterior draws heavily from the earlier EXP 10 Speed 6 coupe, with short overhangs, a long bonnet and a wide stance. The grille features a 3D mesh with illuminated centre, and the headlamps use LED technology. The cutaway steering wheel and minimalist dashboard highlight Bentley’s approach to blending heritage with modernity. Inductive charging capability was referenced, suggesting that Bentley was considering wireless charging solutions for future production EVs.

No details were released about the drivetrain or performance, and Bentley did not confirm any production plans for the EXP 12 Speed 6e. The concept’s focus on luxury, technology and electric range positions it as a possible preview of a future model below the Continental range, should Bentley decide to pursue a production version.

The EXP 12 Speed 6e follows the EXP 10 Speed 6 coupe concept shown in 2015, sharing much of its design language but reinterpreted as an open-top GT. Its debut at Geneva came as several manufacturers, including Audi and Alpine, used the 2017 show to reveal electrified or retro-inspired sports concepts.
