Acura NSX GT3 arrives at SEMA with matching custom trailer
Acura brings its NSX GT3 racer to SEMA 2016, accompanied by a bespoke trailer and a specially prepared MDX tow vehicle, all sharing coordinated design details.
Acura delivered a coordinated display for the 2016 SEMA Show by pairing its NSX GT3 race car with a purpose-built trailer and a modified MDX, all finished in matching livery. The NSX GT3, which is not road legal, required a tow vehicle for the Las Vegas event. Acura responded with a custom solution that highlights both its motorsport ambitions and attention to detail.
Custom trailer and MDX complete the display
The trailer, developed with the Jimmy Shine Workshop, takes cues from both the NSX GT3 and the 2017 MDX. Its perimeter chassis was modelled on the NSX GT3’s roll cage, while the 20-inch wheels are lifted directly from the facelifted MDX. The MDX itself received a lowered suspension, black wheels from Acura’s accessory line, orange-accented brake calipers, and a front splitter finished to match the rest of the setup. All three elements, car, trailer and tow vehicle, share a cohesive visual theme, with livery designed to tie the display together.
NSX GT3 details and SEMA role
The NSX GT3 on show at SEMA is a pure race car, running a rear-wheel-drive layout and a six-speed sequential gearbox. Unlike the road-going NSX, the GT3 dispenses with the hybrid system. Acura announced that the car would begin racing in 2017, targeting series such as the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and the Pirelli World Challenge. The SEMA appearance also served as a platform for Acura to reveal driver line-ups for its forthcoming motorsport campaigns.
