The FIA World Endurance Championship will stage its first official race at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, with the 6 Hours of Barcelona by Visit Qatar set as the penultimate round of the 2026 season.

This marks the first time the Spanish circuit, which previously hosted the 2019-20 pre-season Prologue test, features on the WEC calendar as a competitive event. The addition of Barcelona introduces a new challenge for teams and drivers as the championship enters its decisive phase.

Championship implications

With only one round remaining after Barcelona, the outcome of the 6 Hours of Barcelona by Visit Qatar is expected to play a critical role in shaping the final points standings. Title contenders arrive in Catalonia needing strong results to keep their championship hopes alive heading into the finale.

The event's timing and location add further intrigue to the 2026 title fight, with teams adapting to an unfamiliar track under competitive conditions. The outcome in Barcelona could prove decisive for those chasing the championship ahead of the season's closing round.
