Irmscher reveals tuned Chevrolet Trax with sportier looks and interior upgrades
German tuner Irmscher has launched a styling and interior package for the Chevrolet Trax, lowering the crossover and adding 19-inch alloys, chrome accents and bespoke leather trim.
Irmscher has introduced a new styling and interior package for the Chevrolet Trax, targeting buyers looking to differentiate the compact crossover from its mainstream rivals. The German tuner’s kit, revealed in late April 2013, brings a lower stance, larger wheels and bespoke trim to the B-segment SUV.
Visual changes for the Trax
The Irmscher kit drops the Trax by 30mm using new lowering springs, giving the car a noticeably sportier stance compared to the factory version. The package also includes 19-inch Aerostar alloy wheels, a substantial step up from the standard fit, and a choice between stainless steel or matte black exhaust systems, both with oval tips. Chrome door handles and side steps further distinguish the Irmscher Trax from standard models.
The visual upgrades place the Trax alongside other tuned crossovers in the segment, such as the Nissan Juke Nismo and the Opel Mokka with Irmscher accessories. For buyers seeking a more individual look, these changes give the Trax a more assertive presence on the road.
Interior enhancements and future performance plans
Irmscher’s package also extends to the cabin, although no official images were released at launch. The company says the Trax receives premium leather upholstery, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, stainless steel door sill plates and branded floor mats. These additions aim to lift the perceived quality of the interior, which is a common area of criticism for budget crossovers.
While Irmscher confirmed that a performance package for the engine is in development, no technical details or power figures were released at the time of unveiling. The standard 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine in the Trax produces 140hp and 200Nm of torque. Any future power increase would likely be aimed at matching the more potent versions of rivals in this crowded segment.
Positioning in the crossover market
The Chevrolet Trax competes in a segment led by models like the Nissan Juke, Renault Captur, Opel Mokka and Ford EcoSport. Irmscher’s package is aimed at buyers who want to stand out from the crowd without moving to a premium badge.
