Dacia unveils Dokker and Dokker Van with official images
Dacia has released new images and full specifications for the Dokker and Dokker Van, its latest five-seat MPV and compact van, ahead of their European launch in 2012.
Dacia has released official images and detailed specifications for its new Dokker and Dokker Van models, following their world premiere at the Casablanca Auto Expo in May 2012. The Romanian brand, part of Renault, is expanding its line-up with these compact MPV and van variants, both built on the Lodgy platform and aimed at buyers seeking space and value.
Dokker and Dokker Van: practical focus, low pricing
The Dacia Dokker is a five-seat MPV designed for families and mixed use, while the Dokker Van is tailored for tradespeople and commercial operators. Both models share a focus on practicality, with sliding side doors (one or two on the passenger version, one on the van) and a flexible interior. The Dokker’s rear seat folds to provide up to 3 cubic metres of cargo space, while the Van version maximises load area for goods transport.
Dacia claims the Dokker Van delivers one of the highest cargo volumes in the compact van segment. The Van’s interior can be adapted for different needs, including an optional folding passenger seat (Dacia Easy Seat) to further increase usable space. Both models are built to withstand heavy use, with components and testing aligned to Renault’s commercial vehicle standards.
Engine range and equipment
Buyers can choose from four engines. Petrol options include a 1.6-litre MPI with 85 hp and a 1.2-litre turbocharged TCe producing 115 hp. Diesel buyers are offered the familiar 1.5-litre dCi in 75 hp and 90 hp outputs. The more powerful diesels carry Dacia’s eco2 label, with claimed consumption as low as 4.5 litres per 100 km and CO2 emissions from 118 g/km, according to homologation figures.
Despite their low pricing, the Dokker and Dokker Van offer several features uncommon in the segment. Options include a 7-inch touchscreen Media Nav infotainment system with navigation, Bluetooth and USB connectivity, as well as cruise control, rear parking sensors and electronic stability control (ESP), depending on market and trim.
Production and availability
Both models are produced at the Renault-Nissan Alliance factory in Tangier, Morocco, which opened in 2012 with a focus on environmental standards. The Dokker and Dokker Van went on sale in Morocco from June 2012, with European and Mediterranean market launches following from September. In Austria, for example, sales began in autumn 2012.
With the addition of the Dokker and Dokker Van, Dacia’s range expanded to five model lines, reinforcing its value proposition for both private and professional customers. The modular design and competitive pricing target families needing space as well as small businesses seeking a reliable, low-cost workhorse.
