Fiat’s Panda 4x4 has been awarded Top Gear Magazine’s SUV of the Year for 2012, outscoring established names such as the Range Rover and Audi Q7. The magazine’s judging panel praised the Panda’s effectiveness away from tarmac and its usability in daily life, despite its modest size and price.
The new Panda 4x4, launched in 2012, is the third generation of Fiat’s city car to offer four-wheel drive. It combines a light kerb weight with an electronic traction system and a low first gear, which the Top Gear panel said delivered strong grip on slopes and rough ground.
