Force India confirms Sergio Perez for 2015 Formula One season
Sergio Perez will remain with Force India for the 2015 Formula One season after signing a new multi-year contract, extending his partnership with Nico Hülkenberg.
Force India ended speculation over its 2015 driver line-up by confirming Sergio Perez will stay with the team next season. The announcement, made on 22 November 2014, secures Perez on a new multi-year contract after extended negotiations with his sponsors.
The Silverstone-based team had already announced Nico Hülkenberg’s contract extension for 2015. Perez’s confirmation means Force India retains its 2014 pairing, which delivered a podium finish and consistent points throughout the season. The team cited Perez’s experience and recent performances as key factors in the decision.
Negotiations reportedly centred on arrangements with Perez’s Mexican backers, including Telmex, Telcel and Claro. With the deal now finalised, their branding will feature on the 2015 Force India car. Team principal Vijay Mallya said the team would work to provide Perez with competitive machinery to match his potential.
Force India’s 2015 driver line-up
- Nico Hülkenberg: Confirmed for 2015, extending stay with team.
- Sergio Perez: Signs new multi-year deal after sponsor negotiations.
Force India’s approach for 2015 contrasts with previous years, when late driver announcements and uncertainty were common. The team’s stability is expected to help development of the VJM08 chassis and support its push for stronger results in the midfield battle.
