Fifty McLarens Parade Through Hong Kong for New Year Celebration
McLaren Hong Kong marked the start of 2017 with a 50-car parade, featuring rare and current models on a 35-kilometre route from Kowloon to Sai Kung.
McLaren Hong Kong welcomed 2017 by assembling 50 cars from across its range for a New Year parade and sightseeing drive. The event brought together owners and enthusiasts for a convoy stretching 35 kilometres from the cityscape of Kowloon to the Hong Kong Golf & Tennis Academy in Sai Kung.
The line-up included multiple generations of McLaren supercars, from early models such as the MP4-12C to the 625C, 650S, and 570S. Newer models like the 570GT and the limited-run 675LT Coupe and 675LT Spider also took part. According to McLaren Hong Kong, nine examples of the 675LT, one of the rarest modern McLarens, joined the parade, underlining the depth of the local customer base.
Rare and current models on show
The gathering allowed McLaren owners to showcase both classic and current models in public. The presence of nine 675LTs, out of a total production run of just 500 Coupes and 500 Spiders, was a highlight for collectors. The 570S and 570GT, both representing McLaren’s push towards more accessible supercars, were also well represented in the convoy.
McLaren Hong Kong marked its fifth anniversary in 2017. The dealership has seen growing demand for the brand’s supercars, reflecting McLaren Automotive’s global expansion. In 2016, McLaren delivered 3,286 cars worldwide, nearly doubling its 2015 sales. The company also reached its 10,000th production milestone in December 2016 with a 570S built at the Woking facility.
Owner engagement and brand visibility
Events like the New Year parade are a key part of McLaren’s strategy in Asia, helping to build owner loyalty and raise the marque’s profile in a market where supercar ownership is closely tied to exclusivity and community. The turnout for the parade suggests strong engagement among McLaren’s Hong Kong customers, with a mix of long-standing and new owners bringing cars from across the range.
