Toyota and Lexus recall 2014–2015 models for fuel pipe fire risk
Toyota has issued a recall for select 2014 Toyota and 2015 Lexus vehicles over a manufacturing fault in the fuel delivery pipe that could lead to a fire hazard.
Toyota has announced a recall of several 2014 model year Toyota vehicles and the 2015 Lexus RX due to a potential fire risk linked to a manufacturing fault in the fuel delivery pipe. The company said the issue affects certain Avalon, Camry, Highlander and Sienna models, as well as the Lexus RX, all equipped with the 2GR-FE V6 engine.
Toyota said the right-hand end cap on the fuel delivery pipe in the engine compartment may not have been properly welded during manufacturing at the supplier. If the weld is insufficient, fuel could leak from the pipe. In the presence of an ignition source, this could increase the risk of a vehicle fire.
At the time of the recall announcement in September 2014, Toyota stated it was not aware of any accidents, injuries or fires related to the defect. The recall was issued as a precaution after the company identified the potential for fuel leakage during internal quality checks.
