Chevrolet Unveils Corvette Z06X and Jake Edition Concepts at SEMA 2010
Chevrolet brought two distinct Corvette concepts to the 2010 SEMA Show: the stripped-out Z06X Track Car and the Jake Edition Grand Sport, each illustrating a different approach to performance and personalisation.
Chevrolet used the 2010 SEMA Show to display two contrasting visions for the Corvette: the Z06X Track Car Concept and the Jake Edition Grand Sport. Both concepts highlight Chevrolet’s push to offer more to both track-day drivers and owners interested in factory-backed personalisation.
Corvette Z06X: Factory-Backed Track Weapon
The Z06X Track Car Concept is Chevrolet’s most focused attempt yet at a club racer, developed in partnership with Pratt & Miller, the team behind Corvette’s American Le Mans Series cars. Starting with a C6 Z06 fitted with the 1LZ trim, Z07 Performance Package and CFZ Carbon Fiber Package, the Z06X strips away road-car concessions to create a dedicated track tool.
Chevrolet engineers removed the radio, carpeting and sound-deadening, then replaced the rear window with polycarbonate and swapped several panels for carbon fibre. The Z06X also borrows the carbon roof and B-pillars from the ZR1, the raised carbon bonnet from the Z06 Carbon Edition, and adds an adjustable carbon rear wing. Competition hardware includes a full roll cage, racing seat and harness, fire suppression, and a camera mount. The car sits on lightweight wheels with Michelin racing tyres, and features coil-over suspension, adjustable stabiliser bars and carbon-ceramic brakes. The finished car is painted in low-gloss Icy White Metallic with exposed carbon fibre and red accents.

While Chevrolet stopped short of confirming production, the Z06X demonstrated the depth of factory support for club racers and hinted at the possibility of more track-focused Corvettes. Many of the parts fitted to the concept were already available as accessories, making it feasible for owners to build something similar themselves.
Corvette Jake Edition: Racing Spirit for the Road
The Jake Edition Grand Sport takes a different approach, celebrating Corvette Racing’s skull mascot, Jake, which first appeared in 2005. Based on a standard Grand Sport Coupe, the Jake Edition is essentially a showcase for a new line of accessories themed around the racing team’s iconography.
The car is finished in black with Z06 wheels in Competition Gray and features the distinctive Jake hood graphic first seen on the 2009 GT1 Championship Edition. Additional accessories include Jake-branded floor mats, console lid and wheel centre caps, some of which were not yet available but planned for future release. The package demonstrates how owners can personalise their cars using Genuine Corvette Accessories, with the promise of more Jake-themed parts to come.
