Startech has introduced its latest tuning programme for the Land Rover Discovery Sport, focusing on subtle exterior enhancements, a range of interior customisation possibilities, and a performance upgrade for the 2.2-litre diesel engine. This comprehensive package is set to make its debut at the Geneva Motor Show, highlighting Startech’s approach to refining the Discovery Sport for a more individual and upmarket presence.

Startech's New Tuning Programme for Discovery Sport

Exterior and Chassis Modifications

The exterior changes introduced by Startech are designed to be understated, contrasting with some of the more aggressive aftermarket kits seen in the past. The Discovery Sport receives a new front spoiler, which incorporates integrated LED daytime running lights for a modern touch. At the rear, a revised bumper now fully encloses the dual exhaust outlets, contributing to a more cohesive look. Startech also offers 22-inch Monostar R alloy wheels, which can be paired with sports springs that lower the ride height by approximately 28mm (about 1.1 inches). These modifications not only add visual appeal but also suggest improved handling dynamics.

The overall effect is a more serious and refined appearance, aimed at buyers who prefer a sophisticated upgrade rather than an overtly aggressive transformation. The combination of larger wheels and lowered suspension gives the Discovery Sport a more purposeful stance, while the subtle bodywork changes maintain the vehicle’s original character.

Interior Customisation Options

Inside the cabin, Startech offers a comprehensive personalisation service. Customers can select from a variety of premium leather and Alcantara upholsteries, allowing them to create a unique atmosphere tailored to their tastes. Additional options include new alloy pedals, illuminated door sill plates, and a choice between carbon fibre or wood trim elements. These upgrades are designed to elevate the Discovery Sport’s interior above the standard offering, providing a more luxurious and distinctive environment.

The extent of interior customisation is determined by the owner’s preferences and budget, with Startech able to accommodate a wide range of requests. This flexibility ensures that each modified Discovery Sport can reflect the personality and requirements of its owner, from subtle enhancements to a fully bespoke interior.

Performance Upgrade: PowerXtra SD22 Kit

For Discovery Sport models equipped with the 2.2-litre turbodiesel engine, Startech offers the PowerXtra SD22 performance kit. This upgrade increases engine output to 207hp and 339lb ft of torque, representing an improvement of 19hp and 29lb ft over the standard figures. As a result, the Discovery Sport’s acceleration from 0 to 62mph is reduced to 8.9 seconds, enhancing its on-road performance.

Startech has also indicated that a similar performance upgrade for the newer 2.0-litre turbodiesel engine is currently in development. However, the company has not yet released specific details or a timeline for its availability. This suggests that owners of the latest Discovery Sport models may soon benefit from additional tuning options as well.
