Fiat Teases Linea Successor Ahead of Istanbul Motor Show Debut

Fiat has released an official teaser for the successor to the Linea saloon, confirming the new model will make its world premiere at the Istanbul Motor Show later this month. The car, developed by the FCA Style Centre in partnership with Tofas R&D, is set to be built at Fiat’s Tofas plant in Turkey, continuing the production arrangement of the outgoing Linea.

The rear-end teaser image reveals a more contemporary look than the current Linea. A wraparound, C-shaped taillight design is visible, along with a subtle integrated boot spoiler and a pronounced shoulder crease that flows into the tail lamp cluster. Fiat is promising a “sumptuous Italian design” and improved interior comfort and load capacity compared to the outgoing model, aiming to address the Linea’s declining sales in several markets.

Platform and design details

While Fiat has not confirmed the technical details, the new saloon is expected to be based on the 'Small US Wide' platform, which underpins the 500L and 500X. This would mark a step up in architecture from the outgoing Linea, which shares its underpinnings with the older Grande Punto. The move should improve cabin space, comfort and safety, aligning the new car with current segment standards.

The new model, which has been referred to as Cronos in some markets, takes a three-box form derived from the Argo hatchback. Teaser videos from Brazil show a clear silhouette, sculpted bonnet, and updated lighting elements, suggesting a more upmarket approach. The Cronos is already confirmed for Brazil, but Fiat has not yet announced plans for other markets such as India.
