TOYOTA RACING struggled to make progress in the 6 Hours of São Paulo, finishing 12th and 17th after a weekend marked by penalties, collisions and a difficult qualifying session. Despite the result, the team retains a narrow lead in the FIA World Endurance Championship manufacturers’ standings, holding a five-point advantage over BMW M Team WRT.

Qualifying Struggles Set Back the Race

Both TOYOTA RACING cars found themselves on the back foot from the start, qualifying only 14th and 16th. This left the #7 and #8 TR010 HYBRIDs deep in the field and vulnerable to traffic and incidents as the race unfolded.

Race Incidents and Penalties

The #7 car’s race was disrupted by two penalties: a five-second stop for a start infringement and a drive-through for a full course yellow violation. These setbacks prevented any serious challenge for the top positions. Meanwhile, the #8 car’s hopes were dashed by a collision that caused suspension damage, forcing a 16-minute pit stop for repairs and ending any realistic chance of points.

Championship Standings After São Paulo

The #7 TR010 HYBRID crew leaves São Paulo tied with the #20 BMW drivers at the top of the drivers’ standings. The #8 crew sits fifth, 19 points behind the leaders. With several rounds remaining, the championship remains open, but TOYOTA RACING will need to recover form to stay ahead of BMW’s challenge.
