Mitsubishi Evo X FQ-400 Tested on Video by Japanese Performance
Japanese Performance magazine puts the 403bhp Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X FQ-400 through its paces, highlighting its performance and £50,000 price tag.
Japanese Performance magazine has released a video review of the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X FQ-400, the most powerful and expensive Evo ever sold by Mitsubishi UK. The video, published in late May 2009, shows the 403bhp saloon being put through its paces on road and track.
The FQ-400 sits at the top of the Evo X range, with a heavily tuned 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine delivering 403bhp. That figure puts it well ahead of the standard Evo X FQ-300 and even the previous FQ-360. Mitsubishi claimed a 0-62mph time of just 3.8 seconds, making it one of the fastest four-door saloons available in the UK at the time.
Performance and exclusivity
The video highlights the FQ-400’s acceleration and handling, as well as its track capability. With its four-wheel drive system and uprated suspension, the car was designed to deliver both everyday usability and serious performance. The £50,000 price tag reflected the extensive modifications and limited production, positioning the FQ-400 as a rival to more expensive super saloons.
Japanese Performance’s test provided potential buyers with a closer look at the car’s real-world capabilities, as well as its exclusivity. At the time, the FQ-400 was the most extreme road-going Evo ever offered by Mitsubishi, capping off the Lancer Evolution’s long-standing reputation for accessible high performance.
