Jaguar XE SV Project 8: 600hp Saloon Sets New Benchmark for the Brand
Jaguar’s Special Vehicle Operations has created its most powerful road car yet, with the limited-run XE SV Project 8 delivering 600hp from a supercharged V8.
Jaguar has revealed the XE SV Project 8, a 600hp super saloon developed by its Special Vehicle Operations division and set for a limited production run of just 300 units. Hand-assembled at the SVO Technical Centre in Coventry, the Project 8 stands as the marque’s most powerful road car to date.
The Project 8 is based on the standard XE saloon but has undergone a dramatic transformation. Its 5.0-litre supercharged V8 delivers 600hp, eclipsing the F-Type SVR and Range Rover Sport SVR for outright power. Jaguar positions the Project 8 as a supercar in a four-door body, targeting rivals such as the BMW M3 Competition Package and Mercedes-AMG C63 S.
Limited production, bespoke engineering
Only 300 examples of the XE SV Project 8 will be built, each assembled by hand at Jaguar’s SVO facility. The car features advanced aerodynamics and performance engineering, including adjustable front splitter, rear wing and extensive use of carbon fibre. These measures are aimed at maximising downforce and stability at high speeds.
The all-wheel drive system and uprated chassis are designed to handle the substantial power output. Project 8’s technical package places it at the sharp end of the current performance saloon market, with Jaguar making clear its intention to challenge the established German competition.
Public debut at Goodwood
Jaguar will give the XE SV Project 8 its public premiere at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in June 2017. Full technical specifications and pricing details are scheduled for release ahead of the event. With a global allocation and a focus on exclusivity, demand among collectors and enthusiasts is expected to be strong.
The Project 8 follows the F-Type Project 7 as the latest in Jaguar’s line of SVO-developed limited editions, but with an even greater focus on circuit capability and outright performance.
