Lotus Exige Sport 350 video highlights lighter, faster track focus

Lotus has published a new video featuring the Exige Sport 350 on track, underlining the car’s development focus on reduced mass and sharper circuit ability. The Exige Sport 350, introduced in late 2015, is positioned as the most focused version yet of the Exige range.

Lotus engineers cut 51kg from the Exige S to create the Sport 350, using a lighter battery, revised engine mounts, and a louvred tailgate panel. Further savings came from new HVAC pipework and sound insulation, while the cabin features a redesigned centre console with an exposed gearshift mechanism. The result is a kerb weight that enhances the car’s agility and response on circuit, which the video aims to demonstrate.

Performance and technical changes

The Exige Sport 350 retains the 3.5-litre supercharged V6, producing 345hp and 295lb ft of torque. The manual gearbox has been reworked for improved shift feel and precision. Lotus claims 0-62mph in 3.9 seconds for the manual, or 3.8 seconds with the optional six-speed automatic. Top speed is quoted at 170mph. These figures place the Sport 350 at the top of the Exige range for outright pace, while maintaining Lotus’s reputation for handling finesse.
