Mercedes-Benz has released a 4K Ultra HD video of the AMG GT lapping the Circuit of the Americas, highlighting the new sports car’s performance and design.
Mercedes-Benz has published a new 4K Ultra HD video of the AMG GT on the Circuit of the Americas, giving enthusiasts a close look at the brand’s latest sports car in action. The video, released shortly after the car’s unveiling in September 2014, features the AMG GT lapping the Texas circuit at speed and finishing with a display of controlled oversteer.
The AMG GT replaces the SLS AMG as Mercedes’ flagship two-seater, but arrives with a different focus. The new car is smaller, lighter and less expensive than the SLS, targeting the Porsche 911 rather than higher-priced exotics. The video demonstrates the AMG GT’s agility and traction on a modern Formula One-grade circuit, with sharp direction changes and strong acceleration out of corners.
AMG GT Engine and Performance Figures
At launch, the AMG GT is offered in two versions. The entry AMG GT produces 462hp (339kW) and 600Nm of torque from a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8. The AMG GT S increases output to 510hp (375kW) and 650Nm. According to Mercedes-Benz, the standard GT accelerates from 0 to 100km/h in 4.0 seconds and reaches a top speed of 304km/h. The GT S cuts the sprint to 3.8 seconds and tops out at 310km/h.
