Land Rover has released a 15-minute documentary detailing the creation of the Range Rover Velar, offering an inside look at the design and engineering process behind the new mid-size SUV. The film, titled “The Crafting of Simplicity”, is narrated by British actor Damian Lewis and arrives just ahead of the Velar’s public debut at the Geneva Motor Show.
The documentary follows the Velar from its earliest clay model stages through to the finished production vehicle. The film highlights the design team’s focus on simplicity, although the finished car is anything but basic. The Velar features flush deployable door handles, a new infotainment system and a complex electrical architecture that includes six miles of wiring. The documentary aims to show how these technical elements were integrated without compromising the clean, uncluttered look that defines the Velar’s exterior and interior.
